We are therapists in Cleveland who help individuals with PTSD/trauma, LGBTQ issues, transgender, gender transition, polyamorous, open relationship, self-harm, addiction, and family and relationship conflicts in Cleveland and Cleveland Heights!

Hi there and welcome to Mind Trek Counseling! My name is Norman Cerny. I am a counselor who works with clients of all ages and a variety of issues. My experience and focus have been in trauma-focused care, LGBTQ issues, self-harm, addiction, and family and relationship conflicts. I have a focus on transitional youth meaning teens and young adults but have and will work with people of all ages. I believe we are our best when we can live as our true authentic self in our everyday life.  Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, stuck, or just unsure what to do next I would love the opportunity to help you through life's transitions.

About me and my approach

I have both an undergraduate and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Akron. In addition to schooling, I have been working with clients of all backgrounds, ages, and issues for over 13 years. This has given me not only a wide range of past experiences and training but also helped me fine-tune myself as a counselor.  I have had a strong focus on trauma counseling and am trained in Trauma Focused CBT.

I use a person-centered approach, meaning that what you need to heal is already in you and often we need someone to help us access it and figure out how to utilize it in our daily lives.  I am trained in EMDR, Trauma Focused CBT, motivational interviewing, and ACT.

We all have times in our life where we need help, and it can be beneficial to find a professional to be on your team, and help you through these challenges. I would like to be that person for you.  Together we can dig into your situation and struggles, and create a plan that we put into action.
