Hi there, and welcome to Mind Trek Counseling! I'm Jodi, and I'm so glad you're here! Have you ever felt like you've spent so much of your life trying to survive, meet others' expectations, or manage difficult circumstances that you've lost touch with yourself? You don't have to have everything figured out to begin therapy. You may only know that something needs to change, and that is enough.

I provide therapy for adolescents, adults, and older adults navigating trauma, complex and generational trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD & its co-occurring issues, LGBTQIA+ identity and relationships, addictions, and difficulties with food, body image, and social media. I also work with couples and families. Maybe you feel overwhelmed by your emotions, disconnected from others, or caught in patterns you don't fully understand.

I believe you deserve to be understood as a whole person, not defined by your struggles, diagnosis, identity, or past experiences. My approach is humanistic, relational, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. My goal is not to tell you who to be or how to live. It is to help you reconnect with your strengths, cultivate self-compassion, and discover what a more meaningful and intentional life looks like for you, at your own pace. I see clients in person in Cleveland Heights and by secure telehealth anywhere in Ohio, from Columbus and Cincinnati to small towns and rural communities across the state.

My Background

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Bowling Green State University and my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Toledo. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisory Designation (LISW-S) through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. I have been working with individuals and communities since 1998 and have been independently licensed since 2011. Here are some of my practice experiences if they help you relate:

  • I have spent nearly three decades supporting people across the lifespan, including adolescents, adults, and older adults, in individual, couples, and family therapy.

  • Much of my career has been dedicated to people who are marginalized, underserved, or unhoused, and to individuals living with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and co-occurring conditions.

  • I support teens and adults with ADHD, including those diagnosed later in life, with practical executive functioning support: task breakdown, planning and prioritization, routines, and reminder systems that fit how your brain actually works.

  • I bring particular attention to how ADHD intersects with trauma, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring conditions, since ADHD symptoms and trauma responses often overlap and can be hard to tell apart.

  • My clinical work has centered on people impacted by significant trauma, including complex and generational trauma, supported by certificate training in Trauma-Focused CBT and applied neuroscience for trauma, anxiety, and stress disorders.

  • I have completed specialized training in schizophrenia relapse prevention, behavioral interventions for older adults in long-term care, battering intervention programming, and suicide prevention and risk assessment.

  • I am formally trained in telehealth for mental health professionals, so online sessions can feel as connected and effective as sessions in the office, wherever you live in Ohio.

My approach is grounded in humanistic and relational principles, influenced by Carl Rogers and Virginia Satir. The modalities I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, ADHD psychoeducation and executive functioning support, mindfulness, emotional regulation skills, communication skills, and values-based action. For clients with ADHD, I adapt CBT, DBT, and ACT to focus on follow-through, emotional regulation, and quieting the inner critic.

How can I help?

Life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in patterns we struggle to understand. Whether you're navigating ADHD, trauma, identity, addictions, or challenges in your relationships with yourself and others, you deserve to feel heard and respected. If ADHD has left you feeling behind, ashamed, or exhausted from trying to keep up, we'll build strategies that work with your brain, not against it. Through a collaborative, compassionate approach, we'll build self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and work toward meaningful change at your pace. You don't need all the answers to begin. We can explore them together.

My top specialties includes:

  • ADHD Therapy for Teens & Adults ADHD affects far more than attention. It can influence organization, planning, motivation, time management, emotional regulation, relationships, and self-esteem, and over time many people internalize messages that they are lazy, disorganized, or not living up to their potential. Whether you were diagnosed as a child, recently as an adult, or are still wondering if ADHD explains what you've been experiencing, I help you understand how it shows up in your life while recognizing your strengths, rather than expecting you to fit someone else's definition of productivity or success. Our work may include ADHD psychoeducation, CBT-based strategies, executive functioning support, task breakdown, planning and prioritization, routines and reminders, and emotional regulation skills. ACT principles help you notice self-critical thoughts without letting them define you. The goal is not to change who you are, but to reduce shame, strengthen confidence, and build strategies that support everyday life at work, school, and home.

  • Trauma, Complex Trauma & Co-Occurring Mental Health Concerns Individual and generational trauma can shape how we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. Its effects may show up as anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, difficulty trusting others, or coping patterns that are hard to change, and when trauma occurs alongside ADHD or other mental health concerns, it can feel like managing several challenges at once. Trauma and ADHD often overlap: difficulty focusing, restlessness, and emotional reactivity can come from either, and many people with ADHD carry trauma from years of criticism and feeling misunderstood. I approach trauma with patience, curiosity, and respect for your lived experience. Coping strategies often develop for a reason, even when they later create difficulties, so rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand the context behind them. Integrating Trauma-Informed Care with TF-CBT, CBT, DBT, and ACT, our work may include emotional awareness, distress tolerance, mindfulness, exploring unhelpful beliefs, and cultivating self-compassion, always honoring your readiness and autonomy.

  • LGBTQIA+ Affirming Care, Identity & Relationships Exploring sexual orientation, gender identity, relationships, and belonging can bring growth as well as challenges. You may have experienced rejection, discrimination, or family conflict, or be working toward self-acceptance after years of feeling misunderstood. I offer an affirming, respectful space where you can explore your experiences without pressure to conform to anyone else's expectations. Our work may address self-acceptance, minority stress, internalized stigma, anxiety, depression, boundaries, and relationship patterns, along with how online environments and comparison affect identity, body image, and self-worth. I also welcome neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ clients navigating the overlap of ADHD and identity. Drawing from humanistic and relational approaches, CBT, DBT, and ACT, I help clients clarify their values and make choices that reflect who they are and what matters to them.

  • Food, Body Image, Social Media & Everyday Coping Patterns Sometimes the ways we cope with difficult emotions begin to create challenges of their own. You may turn to food, social media, technology, substances, or other behaviors for comfort, only to feel more disconnected, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied over time. For people with ADHD, these patterns are especially common: impulsive eating, endless scrolling, and hyperfocus on screens can become ways to manage boredom, restlessness, or emotional overwhelm. I help clients explore their relationships with food, body image, social media, and other patterns that offer temporary relief but take a toll, especially when they intersect with ADHD, trauma, or other mental health concerns. Rather than judging the behavior, we focus on understanding the function it serves, identifying the underlying need, and developing more flexible and supportive ways of responding, so you can feel more grounded and connected to yourself and others.
