Hi, welcome to Mind Trek Counseling! My name is Nic, and I’m looking forward to our journey together. I am a licensed professional counselor and art therapist helping individuals of all ages identify and explore their strengths, navigate challenges and changes, process difficult emotions, and express oneself creatively. Who you are is important to me. I truly value the identities, beliefs, and experiences of each individual I collaborate with, and together, we’ll design a therapeutic plan that works best for you, your child, or your family.
My Background
I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Cleveland State University and my Master's degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Ohio and a Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P). I have experience providing trauma-informed Counseling and Art Therapy services in both school and hospital systems, as well as working with individuals, groups, and families.
My Art Therapy training encompasses various areas, including (but not limited to) the Expressive Therapies Continuum, projective assessments, graphic indications, group art therapy, family art therapy, child and adolescent art therapy. I also have training in many Counseling approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing, and others.
How can I help?
I view therapy through a lens of humanism, existentialism, and person-centered approaches, so I place a lot of value in you, your experiences, your goals, feelings, and preferences. Considering the path that led you here, and your current goals or presenting concerns, I implement evidence-based treatment approaches and/or art therapy interventions best suited for you and your goals. Our first session will start by getting to know each other, your reason for seeking out therapy services, your short-term and long-term goals, and your preferences on how therapy might work best for you.
I’ve seen profound therapeutic results working with diverse populations, including individuals with depression/anxiety, grief, behavioral issues, chronic illness, physical disability, eating disorders/ ARFID, ADHD, substance use/abuse, LGBTQ+ individuals, individuals on the Autism spectrum, those dealing with being bullied, and others.

Nicholas Leciejewski, LPC, MA
My top three specialties are Art Therapy, Child/Adolescent/Family Therapy, Depression and Grief.
Art Therapy
Art Therapy training is amongst the most effective and unique skills in my therapy toolkit. My belief is that we are all creatives or artists, whether we are currently expressing our creativity in our lives or not. If you have never explored your artistic identity, are facing challenges in life, are feeling uncertain of your direction, or are just looking to process your thoughts and feelings in a new way, art therapy can be the catalyst for meaningful and lasting change.
My Approach: I use an array of art therapy techniques, skills, and interventions tailored to you! Whatever age you are, level of artistic ability, and exposure to “art” that you have, we can approach art making at a pace thats comfortable for you. Through the use of things like guided art reflections, projective assessments, and collaboration, we will explore therapeutic art making as a means for fostering self-esteem, developing new skills and coping mechanisms, processing emotions, and so much more.
Child/Adolescent/Teen/Family
My education and experiences providing services in both a peditric hospital and school setting have granted me withadequate knowledge related to working with extremely diverse populations of children, teenagers, and families. No matter what you’re bringing to therapy, we’ll use an array of counseling and art therapy skills and interventions to help you, your child, or your family towards resolution, positive change, and personal growth.
My Approach: Along with talk-therapy and psychoeducation, well use approaches like art therapy, play therapy, skill development, collaboration, and emotional regulation, and development of coping strategies, we can design therapy sessions that are effective, engaging, and enjoyable for your child or family.
Depression/Grief:
Whether dealing with depression, suffering a loss, or just not feeling yourself, I am here to walk with you. I have served many individuals who have both mental and physical health diagnoses, some of whom were enduring severely negative emotions related to depression and grief. I want to help you process and heal the sources of your depression/grief, no matter the depth or cause. Together, we will create a meaningful therapeutic relationship, and reduce the negative impact that these emotions may be having on you.
My Approach: Through application of psycheducation, talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Art Therapy, we will gently explore your feelings of grief and/or depression. Based on your preferences, we will find effective ways of approaching and addressing the roots or traumas behind your feelings. Expressive Therapies (Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Dance Therapy, etc.) can offer individuals a way to approach challenging emotions in therapy that do not require verbalizations or talking. For many individuals, art therapy is an interesting and comforting approach to addressing and dealing with challenges, grief, depression, mental/emotional pain, trauma, and negative emotion/thoughts in therapy.
